Welcome

In my work so far, I have been developing the theme of the "female as object" using myself as the model in a series of paintings and drawings. I reflect modern realities so the viewer can recognise and possibly identify with the situation. The space the viewer occupies and their relationship to the subject in the painting is important, sometimes invited into the painting and other times stumbling upon the subject by accident.

These usually unseen, intimate moments portrayed in my paintings usually take place in the 'privacy' of a bedroom. Because the subject does not know she is being observed, a disorganised scene ensues, in many cases humorous because of the dishevelment and innuendo.

Currently, I am in the process of producing a series of 'Effigy Boxes', highlighting the irony in modern society's trend of worshiping celebrities. The first in the series (an image of which will be uploaded shortly), 'What Katie Did Next', using the subject of Kate Moss as a modern day idol. The use of mixed media allows for a kitsch and humorous social statement.

Examples of these can all be found in the gallery section, a link to which, and all other parts of the site, can be found in the navigation part on the left hand side of the page.
